How blocking works
AdVoid installs a VPN configuration that runs only on your iPhone. The only traffic it handles is DNS: the lookups apps make to turn a name like example.com into an address before they connect. All other traffic goes over your normal connection and never passes through AdVoid.
When a lookup matches a blocklist, AdVoid answers it on your phone, so the app never reaches that server. Nothing about blocked lookups leaves your device.
Lookups that aren’t blocked
Lookups that aren’t blocked are sent to the DNS resolver you choose in Settings: Cloudflare (the default), Quad9 or Google. Like any DNS resolver, including the one your network would otherwise use, it receives the name being looked up and your IP address, and handles them under its own privacy policy. AdVoid does not send these lookups to Roxuh.
What stays on your device
Your settings, your always-allow and always-block lists, links to blocklists you add, and your stats are stored on your iPhone and shared only between AdVoid and its extensions on the same device. Stats include counts of lookups and blocks, counts per domain, and the most recent 300 lookups with their domain and time, which is what the Activity tab shows. None of this is uploaded to Roxuh or any third party, and you can reset stats at any time.
Your device’s backup settings may include app data in backups managed by Apple. Those backups are controlled through your Apple account and device settings, not by Roxuh.
Blocklist downloads
AdVoid downloads its blocklists from lists.roxuh.com, which is served through Cloudflare. These downloads are the same for every user and contain no information about you, but like any web request they expose your IP address and basic technical details to the server. Roxuh does not use them to identify or track you.
If you add your own blocklist by link, AdVoid downloads it directly from that address, and that website receives the same kind of request information under its own policies.
Safari extension
The optional AdVoid Safari extension only runs on youtube.com and instagram.com. It removes ad data from YouTube pages and hides sponsored posts on Instagram, inside Safari on your device. It counts how many ads it removed and saves those counts to the AdVoid app so you can see them in Stats.
The extension does not read, store or send your browsing history, the videos you watch, your messages or your account details. It checks with the AdVoid app on your device whether your subscription is active.
Purchases and AdVoid Pro
Apple processes in-app purchases. RevenueCat verifies purchases, restores access and manages the AdVoid Pro subscription status. This involves an automatically generated anonymous app user identifier, purchase and transaction information, subscription status and technical information about the device and app version. Roxuh does not receive your name, email address or payment card details from Apple or RevenueCat.
AdVoid saves your subscription status on your device so the blocker and the Safari extension can check it, and can also check your purchases with Apple directly. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings. Deleting AdVoid does not cancel a subscription.
What AdVoid does not do
AdVoid does not use analytics or crash-reporting services, does not use advertising SDKs, does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not collect your location, contacts, photos or other personal content. There are no accounts or third-party logins.
Retention and deletion
Settings, lists and stats remain on your device until you reset them in the app or delete the app and its data. Removing the VPN configuration in iOS Settings turns blocking off.
Purchase records may remain with Apple and RevenueCat after the app is deleted, for as long as they need them for transaction history, support and legal obligations. They are tied to an anonymous identifier, not to your name.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or complain to a data protection authority. Email [email protected] to make a request.
Where applicable, we process information to provide requested features and purchases, pursue legitimate interests in keeping the app working and secure, comply with legal obligations, or with consent where required.
Children
AdVoid is rated for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because it collects no personal information beyond what is described above, the same protections apply to every user.
Security and policy updates
We rely on the security features of iOS and of our service providers to help protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Keep your device protected and review its backup settings.
We may update this policy as AdVoid changes. The effective date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
